Timberland Safety Boots
Safety Footwear For Work By Alexis Svenn
My daily routine is pretty sedentary, my body is posed no great threats from falling rocks, nor looming metal wheeled forklifts, indeed the level of danger my feet are exposed to is such that I often am barefoot underneath my desk.
This is in direct contrast to those in more rugged professions than I. There are people out there who work up a sweat whilst working, who have callouses on their hands and whose feet are in mortal danger every time they pull on their work shoes.
There are naturally grades of danger that your feet can be exposed to and in choosing safety footwear this needs to be taken into account. If you are, for example, what is know as in the trade as slightly endangered you may be able to get away with a trainer with a composite ( non metal ) toecap. This sort of safety shoe will not hamper your movements at all, feeling much the same as a normal shoe, whilst affording good protection for the feet at work. Such safety shoes may also be useful in areas where it is important to negate the possibility of an electrostatic discharge (ESD) from footwear; shoes are also measured in terms of heat resistance and joules ( pressure they can withstand).

Moving upwards with regards to shoe/ workboot safety specifications we can see some wonderfully rugged safety boots from some well known manufacturers such as Timberland, DeWalt, CAT, JCB and DrMartens amongst others. For example Timberland Safety Boots have a wealth of additional safety features in their workwear to protect even the most threatened feet. They come with a steel plate in the sole so that standing on a nail is more likely to drive it further into a plank than through your foot; they are ergonomically designed to support the foot, keep it dry, whilst delivering maximum protection from knocks or spillage. It is always reassuring to know that your shoes are oil and acid resistant, that flaming napalm could be poured over them with no deleterious affect to your feet, nailguns fired accidentally would bounce off your shoes…
